    Een beestachtige goede relaxbar op het strand van Oostduinkerke. Dat is Up ’t Zand. De eigenaar wilde een werkplek creëren met als uitgangspunt zijn eigen ideale vakantieplek, een plek waar je kunt genieten van het goede leven en relaxen. Up ’t Zand onderscheidt zich met dit relax concept van de andere terrassen in de gezellige badplaats. Extra bijzonder is dat ze MOST HUNTED supporten. De medewerkers zijn gekleed in MOST HUNTED tijger T-shirts, tops en sweaters met het eigen crew logo op de rug. Dit ziet er niet alleen goed uit, het geeft ook nog eens een goed gevoel om de hele zomer awareness te genereren voor het zinloos doden van wilde diersoorten. Hoe meer mensen zich bewust worden van het alarmerend snel uitsterven van wilde diersoorten hoe beter. Samen kunnen we het verschil maken en wilde dieren uit de handen van jagers en stropers helpen redden.

    Met je voeten in het zand, de zon op je huid en zicht op de zee kun je Up’t Zand dus met een goed gevoel heerlijk genieten. Op de duurzame houten banken met veel kussen is het heerlijk kletsen met een drankje en iets lekkers erbij. De gezellige beach sounds op de achtergrond en het geroezemoes van andere relaxers nemen je nog een beetje verder mee in het vakantiegevoel.     A beastly good relax bar on the beach of Oostduinkerke. That is Up ’t Zand. The owner wanted to create a workplace that would be like his own ideal vacation spot, a place where you can enjoy the good life and relax. Up ’t Zand distinguishes itself with this relax concept from the other terraces in the cozy seaside village. Extra special is that they support MOST HUNTED. The employees are dressed in MOST HUNTED tiger T-shirts, tops and sweaters with their own crew logo on the back. This does not only look good, it gives a good feeling to generate awareness throughout the summer for the useless killing of wild animal species. The more people become aware of the alarmingly fast extinction of wildlife, the better. Together we can make a difference and help save wildlife from the hands of hunters and poachers.

    With your feet in the sand, the sun on your skin and a view on the sea, you can enjoy the good life with a good feeling Up ’t Zand. On the sustainable wooden benches with lots of pillows it is wonderful to chat with a refreshing drink in your hand and snack something tasty.     That is VETPAW. The organization we donate to this year. The U.S. Veterans with combat skills are committed to protect and train Park Rangers and support their communities in the fight against poachers. This way they make a difference and help to save African wildlife.

    We think the work VETPAW does is extremely important as the killing of African wildlife is out of control. The Park Rangers are overwhelmed and outgunned by criminal poachers. That’s why they do need our support badly. Especially because they practice what we stand for. They fight back to save wildlife.

    We zijn zo trots dat Marsel van Oosten de titel Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2018 heeft gewonnen! Van harte gefeliciteerd Marsel!

    Met zijn foto ‘The Golden Couple’ won hij de eerste prijs in de categorie Animal Portraits plus de grote titel.

    Het beeld bevat twee gouden stompneuzen die Marsel in het zuidwesten van China heeft gefotografeerd.

    De Qinling gouden stompneusaap (Rhinopithecus roxellana qinlingensis) is een aap uit de oudheid in de subfamilie Colobinae. Hij is te vinden in een klein gebied in de bossen van het Qinling-gebergte op hoogtes van 1500-3,400 m boven de zeespiegel.

    Deze prachtige dieren staan ​​vermeld als bedreigd door de IUCN omdat er nog slechts 3.800 van zijn. De meeste mensen hebben deze wezens nog nooit gezien. Bewustzijn is een cruciale eerste stap naar een succesvolle instandhouding van welke soort dan ook. Daarom vindt Marsel het belangrijk om deze beelden aan de wereld te laten zien.

    Hun grootste bedreiging is, zoals vaak, verlies van leefgebied. Korstmossen zijn bijvoorbeeld het hoofdbestanddeel van het dieet van de aap en dode bomen hebben de grootste dekking van korstmossen. Helaas worden dode bomen gekapt, waardoor de kwaliteit van het leefgebied en de beschikbaarheid van voedsel wordt verminderd. De aap is een zeer selectieve eter, dus schade aan zijn leefgebied heeft ernstige gevolgen voor de soort.

    De mannetjes hebben grote lichamen bedekt met zeer lange, gouden waakharen op hun rug. Vrouwtjes zijn ongeveer de helft van de grootte van de mannetjes, en hun gouden waakharen zijn korter.

    De gouden stompneus aap wordt gevonden in groepen variërend in grootte van 5-10 individuen tot groepen van ongeveer 600. De mannetjes zijn vaak alleen, ze blijven weg van de rest van de groepsleden om te rusten. Vrouwtjes of jonge exemplaren sluiten zich soms bij hen aan.

    Met zijn prachtige foto’s verhoogt Marsel het bewustzijn voor de mooiste dieren die worden bedreigd met uitsterven. We zijn enorm trots dat hij een aantal van zijn foto’s van wilde dieren heeft gedoneerd aan ons. Samen kunnen we de verandering zijn die we willen zien in de wereld en het behoud van elke diersoort mogelijk maken.

    Cheers to the MOST HUNTED Photographer of the Year.

    We are so proud Marsel van Oosten won the title Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2018! Congrats Marsel!

    With his image ‘The Golden Couple’ he won First Prize in the Animal Portraits category plus the grand title.

    Here’s some information from Marsel about his image and The Golden Couple monkeys.

    The image features two golden snub-nosed monkeys that Marsel photographed in south-west China.

    The Qinling golden snub-nosed monkey (Rhinopithecus roxellana qinlingensis) is an Old World monkey in the Colobinae subfamily. It is endemic to a small area in the temperate forests of the Qinling Mountains at elevations of 1,500-3,400 m above sea level.

    These beautiful animals are listed as Endangered by the IUCN as only some 3,800 individuals still exist. Most people have never seen these creatures, and awareness is a critical first step towards the successful conservation of any species. This is why Marsel thinks it is important to show these images to the world.

    Their main threat, as often, is habitat-loss. For instance, lichens are the main staple of the monkey’s diet and dead trees have the greatest lichen coverage. Unfortunately, dead trees are harvested, thus reducing the quality of the habitat and availability of food. The monkey is a highly selective feeder, so damage to its habitat seriously impacts the species.

    The males have large bodies covered with very long, golden guard hairs on their backs. Females are about half the size of the males, and their golden guard hairs are shorter.

    The golden snub-nosed monkey is found in groups ranging in size from 5-10 individuals to bands of about 600. The males often stay solitary, remaining away from the rest of the group members as they rest, but females or juveniles sometimes join them.

    With his beautiful photographs Marsel raises awareness for the most beautiful animals that are critically endangered. We are extremely proud he donated some of his wildlife head shots to us. Together we can be the change and make conservation of any species happen.
